SHUTTLE BED TRIM PRESS
The picture on the right shows our popular shuttle bed trim press. This press is perfect for placing into an automated robotic system. After a part is extracted from a machine, the robot places it onto the shuttle bed. The lower trim die is mounted to the shuttle bed so that it can be moved under the ram. Once the robot is clear of the press, the trim press will retract its shuttle until it is aligned with the top of the trim die. After the shuttle is in position, the ram will cycle to trim the part. While the ram is in cycle, a parts tray will lift and gravity feed the trimmed parts from the previous cycle out of the cell.
Upon the ram completing the cycle, the part tray will lower and the shuttle will extend back to its original position. Once the shuttle is fully extended, a rotary actuator will rotate the die to dump the scrap from the trimmed part. After the scrap is removed, the die will rotate back to its HOME position and wait for a new part.
Advantages to the Shuttle Bed Trim Press Include:
- Less trim die repair due to improved method of scrap removal
- Unlimited overhead clearance for robot to load trim die
- Dies can easily be changed with overhead crane
- Part removal from trim die is integrated into press
- Existing trim dies do not need to be modified for scrap removal
- Less dowtime for robotic loading errors with improved scrap handling
